Der rosa Drache kann schwimmen!

Sun Jul 5, 2009, 9:00 PM
  • Mood: Tired
  • Listening to: Cars trundling by.
  • Reading: Animators survival kit (Not that I can use it...)
  • Watching: Time tick by.
  • Playing: Klonoa: Empire of Dreams
  • Eating: A bag of chips in two bites. XD
  • Drinking: Chlorinated water. XP
Two friends, Spuff and angeltrin, actualy taught me, in some way shape or form, how to actually swim. I can't swim very fast nor far, but they say it'll come with time. Of course that day your resident flightless dragon had to go nuts and try to 'swim' like a maniac most of the time. One wonders how I didn't nod off in the middle of the day after that. Too many firecrackers? And despite me being a coward for the first half an hour or so, at least I managed to learn neh?
Seriously though, it's really fun when you get down to it, though going down in the water is hard. It seems like your head, which is the heavist thing on your body, magically turns into a bouy. I dont' get the logic in that, I guess it means we are all airheads? Of course I still can't float despite that, so going about and not feeling the bottom of the pool when needed is kinda bad... ^^''''

I don't really like to update on DA much cause not too many things give me cause or reason to. It would be nice to hear from people sometimes, since I actually do like to chat about random things. It's fun to hear from others and their ideas most of the time.
I am just a wierdo rambling on and on and on. Case in point I tend to make stupid journals when I sporadically appear. XD

I have to make a journal or something about random thoughts or art, or a designers Morgue. I... don't have much patience for journals, nor do I have too much of a good idea for that morgue. Hopefully I can just ramble my way through and hope it's more than decent. Pretty much what my art has been like, just rambling about and doodling and suddenly getting better after a long period of no results. (Most of the time anyway.) Hence why I tend to not draw too many crazy things lately. T-T
I wish animations could be considered part of a portfolio, that would be cool. But I don't have the resources to learn to do it really, all that I know comes from reading like a maniac. I have tried, but it's hard for begginers to try without a lightbox to aid them. So I highly doubt they'll be good enough for when the portfolio is due. For now it's time to work with... *Shudder*... Acrylics. I like Colored pencil and watercolor more cause you see what you did before. Acrylic loves to cover everything up.

Eh well you might catch me on the Dragon Heroes Webcomic forums sometime soon, dunno. I still am asking people to try and read it, not commanding them. The story is unfolding into its second chapter so hopefully it'll continue and gain more recognition.

See you all... Er... Read from you all!

Oh and Klonoa games are awesome. GET THEM IF YOU SEE THEM!

TIME TO GO TO THE DEEP END! WE KNOW YOU ARE PREPARED. XD

So this is what you were working on at one in the morning...XDDD

Did you start your art journal? I didn't start mine at all since I'm trying to finish up psych (all I need are mini paragraphs about old men who contributed to psychology in some way. woot!) How big does this journal have to be? :x (As usual, I forget to ask her.)

Sure, you can swim, but can you DANCE? [/random]

I think we're all wanting to see more art from you. All of us. So even if you think it won't be good, stop thinking and start doing, and perhaps it will actually turn out more awesome than you thought. Happens to me a lot.

T-T Are you upset for me not taking care of Speedy for the summer?
Your mom is a bit psycho-path sometimes, whereas mine goes on rants for hours on end.
I am a bad friend neh? hardly ever call and seem to just be useless. >< AUGH!

Hey, no mad friend here, I just forgot to deliever him to you. So my mom agreed to take care of him.

Hehe, trust me my parents can go on a rant for hours too only if I saw anything I'll be ran over with pointless questions or questions that I can't answer that they expect me to answer. And if I do answer them they'll question me more or go on a rant.

I wish they would trust you more, or anythng that would make them less paranoid.
I hope Speedy is ok and he gets treated well. He's a little pudgy trundler, but cute and funny neh?

I finished my lightbox now, so if I can order a pegbar guess what I'll be doing? XD;;;;; I hope I can do it. I want o understand the basics well and using a lighhtbox first may help to properly align my drawings. But If I can't evoke character on something then it is all for none. A story is flowed by the plot, crafted with care, and made by the characters. If you can't connect with a character and be the character then that story will likely be bad.
Animation is basically acting, you are the one with the brains and making a character feel how you feel and move how you think. That's why simply pullign faces isn't acting, there has to be a reason to do so. You can't have a mouse walk across the screen thinking: it'll jump over that cup and go into the wardrobe. There has to be a reason for it, like it is tryign to find a crumb of bread for its children to eat.
So much emootion can be evoked if you make your characters have a specific goal they want for the entire story. That one goal should not change, that is basically what drives the story and makes a conflict to achieve it. That's why I feel Wishmaker lacks, it dosn't have that one goal that I need. There can be many smaller goals achieved within the story to get further in the plot, but they all fall over without that one huge goal. I need to find it.

Yay, I'm glad you finished the light box, it's about time!

And yes, I'm sure Speedy is just getting fatter and fatter and lazier and lazier by the second.

And about Wishmaker, that goal is really up to you. I would say that you should think about what you want to happen in the end first. Do they die? Do they live? Do they win? Do they lose? Do they end up thinking they did one thing but really did another? Answering them first can lead to a story's true goal for the characters.

It'll take time but you can't give in. If that happens you'll never start or if you did start, you'll never finish.

Thing is if I just think about the end I don't really think about the message I want to come across in my story. A great story also has some kind of message to impart upon its readers. Though that message may be hard or difficult to find. There's this book about a wolf pup I want to lend you called Runt. And I think the lesson is everyone has their place they fit into, they need to search and suffer to find it. It's a small simple story, but so wonderfully written I felt compelled as I read about the little pup's story.
Really there is no way to start a story, but finding what you wish to say can make all the difference.
I know Kyrus wants to find his family and regain his place in it. He uses Annal's knowledge of the strange world he was left on to do so.
Whereas Annal.... I'm not sure what she wants exactly. She's probably too depressed to care, and that's why I find it hard to start their journey. In the beggining she is not strong enough for rebellion against her master. So how in the world does she suddenly wish to help a beast she has never met? What compells her to do so? What motives does she have? My current plot is weak because she is the second main character and nothing she wishes for stays permanent.

Well, for Annal, you just got to watch films, that's the besst you can do. I can't help you with her...
